Organic products must be grown on land that has not had synthetic fertilizers, growth regulators, insecticides, or herbicides applied to it for a minimum of three years. Organics aren't necessarily more nutritious or better tasting that conventionally grown products, and there aren't any conclusive studies that prove they're safer to eat. So why buy them? Buying organics makes sense for the socially responsible shopper because when you do, you're using your purchasing power to vote for the health of the earth and the people on it. Organic agriculture is a method of growing and processing that protects rather than depletes natural resources. It also spares the growers from significant health risks.
